FOXES -Pest Control Keighley

Foxes

Foxes can become a nuisance in the UK partly because the fox has no natural predator and will eat anything
They are expert hunters, catching rabbits, rodents, birds, frogs and earthworms as well as eating carrion. But they aren't carnivorous - they are actually omnivores as they dine on berries and fruit too. Urban foxes will also scavenge for food in dustbins, and often catch pigeons and rats.

it should be remembered that They can be vicious killers and can cause immense amounts of damage to livestock like chickens. Foxes have also been known dangers to people's pets. There are reports of them attacking dogs and cats. If they manage to get into your garden while your pet is around, then there is likely to be a confrontation

Foxes are not a protected species contrary to popular belief

Pest control and foxes

At Keighley Pest Control, we understand that foxes can be a problem.

  • Store rubbish, especially food waste (including composted waste), in fox proof containers made of materials such as metal or plastic. Ensure that dustbin lids are secure, e.g. by having a clip on lid, and avoid leaving rubbish sacks unprotected. Clear away wind fallen fruit.
  • Damage to lawns is sometimes caused by foxes attracted by the presence of invertebrate turf pests such as leather jackets and chafers. Removal of these pests using a pesticide approved for the purpose or a biological control product (e.g. nematode worms) may alleviate the problem; however, the effects on other beneficial invertebrates (and those species which may feed on them) should be fully considered before doing

This is particularly true in urban areas where fox densities are high. In addition, shooting and snaring are unlikely to be appropriate methods of control in urban situations for reason of safety, and in the case of shooting, public disturbance. The relocation of foxes is also not recommended mainly due to their territorial nature.

If you decide to undertake fox control you are advised to employ a professional pest controller. We recommended that you use a member of a Professional Pest Controller who is registered with a pest control association such as Basis Prompt

Keighley pest Control are verified members of Basis Prompt
